As a fifteen year old I watched Richard Hittleman teach yoga on PBS, bought his book on yoga and medication, not realizing that this was the best time of my life to be practicing yoga. Many years later I came across the book, "Structural Yoga, Adapting to the Individual" by Mukunda Stiles. I attended a workshop he gave and had a one on one session with him. I told him my frustration of not being able to perform triangle pose on my right side. He noted a mild curvature of my upper back and showed me some simple movements to strengthen the muscles which fixed the problem. I later went on to complete a 700 hour certification from him as a structural yoga therapist along with a 200 hour yoga teacher certification as a yoga teacher from Rocky Mountain School of Yoga and Ayurveda. I'm also currently a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
